I recently learned that Browns Stadium has a composting program. Levy Restaurants runs the catering for the club seats and for special events. Their staff is separating food scraps and fiber (paper packaging, cardboard, etc) into 96 gal. toters, which are lined with biodegradable bags. Rosby Resource Recycling is providing the composting and hauling services. The program has been an easy transition for staff. They are currently filling five 96 gal. totes, which are picked up about three times a week by Rosby. Regular trash tips have been reduced from 4/day to 1/day due to the program.
The NFL has an initiative to reduce its carbon footprint and diverting preconsumer food scraps has been an easy win for the Cleveland Browns.
