Zero Waste Northeast Ohio

We manufacture upholstered wood chairs for offices in Bedford. We primarily use kiln-dried poplar and maple to construct our chair frames. From our woodshop production, we generate approximately 30,000 pounds of scrap lumber annually. This scap lumber ranges in size from 6"x6" to comparable sizes with the same amount of square inches. These pieces range in thickness from 1.25" to 2". We also have strips that are a half inch thick and up to 18" and 1.5" wide. This wood is clean (no chemicals have been added) and it has a moisture content of 7-9%.

We are looking for a reliable source to compost this scrap or use it for thermo energy. We do not want to send it to a landfill. We can stage it in our factory or fill a dumpster at our factory. We have approximately 7,000 pounds available for pick up right now. We are interested in finding a partner that will view our waste as their raw material. We will consider partnering with someone in this manner if they will cover the cost of transportation from our factory (we are located just off I-271 near the Forbes-Broadway exit) and if we were paid a small amount for these raw materials ($250-$500 per year).

If you are interested in this scrap lumber please email Jeff Baldassari at jjb@thetaylorcompanies.com or call 440-232-0700. Thank you.
