Hi Kelly,
I'm no expert but I love my 2004 Prius. I get over 50 mpg in the summer and about 43ish mpg in the winter. Honda's new Insight hybrid looks cool and is about $2k less than the Prius. You can't go wrong with either. I also have always found that there is tons of room in the Prius--the back seats go down, there is lots of storage. I even haul my large palm trees from their summer to their winter locations in it!

I also love my 2004 Prius. Best car I have ever owned and the easiest to haul people and stuff. I have over 130,000 miles on it, have just done normal maintenance and (knock on wood) have had no problems.
