Briefly describe your organization's products/services and the size of operations.

We are a non-profit wellness center for those touched by cancer. We offer a wide range of programs and services to the person with cancer and those who love them including support groups, education, exercise, nutrition, touch. We have two locations, east and west, with a staff of 18. We also operate a resale shop for additional revenue.

What attracts you to the concept of zero waste?

I believe it is in keeping with our mission and our principals of action: Intentionality, community, quality. I believe that we should be fighting cancer on all levels, including reducing the environmental causes.

What is your organization doing to eliminate waste?

So far we recycle most paper, and some plastic. We have a long way to go!

What do you need to learn to be able to take action towards Zero Waste?

What to do with food waste from our many events that are catered. What to do with fluourescent lights. What to do with packaging that office supplies come in. How to convince the whole staff to get on board!

Please describe your organization's waste reduction goals (i.e. zero waste by 2019).

I want to start with 50% reduction in the next year.

If your organization has set a zero waste goal, how do you plan to reach that goal?

I will be the lead to assess our issues and find solutions.
