What attracts you to the concept of zero waste?

The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is a conservation organization. Zero Waste is the most sensible way to positively affect the environment and in turn, improve the future for wildlife. Cuyahoga County has no landfills and hauling waste is inefficient.

What is your organization doing to eliminate waste?

Learn best practices, Share resources, Network with others, Find ways to save money

What do you need to learn to be able to take action towards Zero Waste?

We need to learn how to integrate the goal of Zero Waste throughout all of our divisions and get buy-in for the cause. We need to better educate staff, showcase our successes and become a leader in sustainability on behalf of the communities we serve.

Please describe your organization's waste reduction goals (i.e. zero waste by 2019).

Cleveland Metroparks is committed to maintaining the integrity of the natural environment through initiatives like recycling, source reduction, conservation, and education. This will serve to help minimize the ecological footprint throughout Greater Cleveland.

The Zoo's Resource Management Committee is organizing the first annual America Recycles Day Sunday Nov. 15.

E4S will be hosting an event on October 27th about setting zero waste goals. More details will be posted soon on www.e4s.org.
