What attracts you to the concept of zero waste?
Habitat for Humanity ReStore sells rescued, recycled and donated building materials, tools and household items at a fraction of standard retail costs, with proceeds supporting Habitat’s operations in the local community.

Providing affordable construction materials and tools so that the community can repair, renovate and rehab deteriorating housing stock supports our mission to “eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action” while keeping tons of materials out of local landfills.

ReStore wants your new or used bath and kitchen cabinets, windows, doors, light fixtures, lumber, tile, tools, furniture, garden supplies and more.

Call 216 429-3621 Ext. 238 to schedule a pick up, or drop off directly at 2110 West 110th Street Tuesday to Thursday from 9 AM to 3:30 PM. ReStore is open to the public on Friday and Saturday.

What is your organization doing to eliminate waste?
Habitat for Humanity is one of the area’s premier Green Builders, providing highly efficient Energy Star rated products that could easily be LEED certified based on our own standards of care, and our commitment to zero waste. Our lawns are organic, our landscaping accomplished with indigenous species, and we will be introducing rain barrels during 2009.

We have assembled with the help of the Cleveland Foundation, The George Gund Foundation and others, a 60,000 square foot, fully racked, professional materials handling facility which is designed to be the cornerstone of a community wide effort to promote, deconstruction, salvage, rescue and reuse of viable materials from the land fill which can be sold back to the community for 25 cents on a dollar.

Since our materials are 100% recycled from local sources, the carbon reduction is significant, not only because the material is not unnecessarily manufactured, it is also not shipped overseas and then trucked across the country.

This triple bottom line model will allow us to rebuild the central city using goods that are typically buried in the ground in the outer ring suburbs.
