Ely Enterprises is a distributor of new and used recycling and waste handling equipment. We work with companies that produce or process waste paper, plastics, metals, and E-waste.

What attracts you to the concept of zero waste?

Growing up around recycling equipment, I learned early that there is no such thing as waste. It's all resources that, if handled properly, can be put back into the manufacturing sector. As someone much wiser than me once put it, "One's man trash is another man's treasure"

What is your organization doing to eliminate waste?

We have implemented an on-site recycling program for our metals, plastics, paper and e-waste. We have our own shredder to destroy our confidential documents. We have a skylight and windows with southern exposure to reduce our dependency on electric lighting. We have our own coffee mugs to reduce beverage container waste. We encourage carpooling for our employees as well.

What do you need to learn to be able to take action towards Zero Waste?

Everyone and every company has different stories about how they are trying to reduce their waste. The more I can learn about their successes and failures, the better I can help our company and our customers make appropriate decisions about recycling and waste handling.
