What attracts you to the concept of zero waste?
It is a necessary goal we must strive to achieve as a society. Although zero waste as a scientific concept may never be achieved, current waste practices and status quo behaviors that are extremely inefficient and energy intense provide a myriad of opportunities for reform.
What is your organization doing to eliminate waste?
Three organizations that I have co-founded are working in the zero waste field:

ZeroLandfill - a community based project that identifies and redirects products and materials that have been misclassified as waste back into the community.

APISync - a consultancy focused on redesign of current waste stream practices and processes.

BeeDance - an online platform that mimics the behaviors and characteristics of nature's most productive inhabitant, the honeybee. The BeeDance experience fosters the discovery and connection of diverse materials in the marketplace that have been misclassified as waste and returns these items to the community where they are celebrated and repurposed.

ZeroLandfill Cleveland Repurposes Over 50,000 Pounds of Creative Materials This Summer

Thanks to everyone who helped us achieve a great result this summer. Only 1.2% of… Continue

Connections are a Terrible Thing to Waste

Connections are the first step to success. Through an introduction made by E4S following a June network meeting in Akron, The Taylor Companies and BeeDance began to probe new connections in the local economy to help support Taylor's goal of becoming a Zero Waste manufacturer. BeeDance's methodology of creating new material flows in the economy is based on the premise that in nature, waste is created but nothing is wasted. Taylor generates and disposes of an estimated 30,000 pounds of scrap wood… Continue
