Waste Management Composting Technology

Waste Management (WM) owns a landfill in Solon that no longer accepts municipal solid waste. Since 2001, Stouffer's, located nearby, has used methane gas from this landfill. This fuel source meets about 80% of Stouffer's processing and plant heating needs. WM uses a recovery, compression and treatment system to capture the methane.

Furniture-maker Haworth Inc. has achieved zero-landfill status!

The 10 U.S. manufacturing facilities of furniture-maker Haworth Inc. have achieved zero-landfill status, meaning that all waste is reused or recycled. " By using blankets, straps, bars and plywood tiers, the company was able to fit an average of about 65 percent more products into its trailers, reducing the number of loads needed and eliminating cardboard waste."
